Today’s HR Professional - Internal or Outsourced (or Both)?

In today’s world, an HR professional should be a partner with the organization’s C-Suite to help find solutions for the complex process of ensuring each member of the organization is doing the right job for his/her skill set and bringing the highest value to the organization. Research shows that the return on investment with an engaged workforce is over 35 percent higher than a non-engaged one and can be shown with actual dollars through the use of retention programs, a reduced turnover ratio and by increased productivity. Through the use of well thought-out HR programs, policies and cultural fits, these goals can be accomplished.

Each generation brings with it their own unique needs and skills to the organization. From millennials through baby-boomers, the relationship between employer and employee needs to evolve allowing both the employee and employer to receive the highest value from each other. HR professionals are uniquely trained and skilled to help the organization meet its goals while ensuring the employee’s individual goals are met at the same time.

Working with outside HR professionals is one way to achieve these outcomes. HR outsourcing is a beneficial option for a small to medium sized organization, providing access to the professional, strategic and operational HR assistance it may need. Many of today’s more lean organizations have downsized their HR professionals and are relying on human capital whose main focus is not the compliance and professional processes that are needed to run their firm. By looking outside for this expertise, the organization can rely upon individuals who have dedicated their professional life to the pursuit of excellence within the HR field. That professional should have certifications from either HRCI (PHR, SPHR, or GPHR) or SHRM (SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP) or both. These designations mean that the professional has been through rigorous training and testing to prove their knowledge and competencies within the HR arena. These professionals offer services that allow each member of the client organization to focus on what brings the most value to their firm.
