Once the team is identified, trained, provided a development pathway and given a system whereby performance is measured objectively and accurately, the issue of team rewards should be addressed.
These rewards should be linked in ways relevant to organizational goals and overall team performance. In other words, the rewards process is custom-tailored depending on performance. Team members who perform at the highest levels and are provided ongoing incentives to continue to do so should receive strategically differentiated rewards than those whose performance is average or needs improvement.
